Is there a way to make the taskbar object group icons? I know it can be done in RightClick.
Also is it possible to hide/unhide icons in systray like in the windows systray?

Thanks

Which objects are you referring to? This sounds like an issue where you might need to contact the developers of the objects.

This is just an object that uses the "Taskbar" object type(no additional abilities).  The Grouping I was referring to was like the windows Taskbar does.  It can group multiple programs of the same type.  In RC it is called Automatic grouping(under the "Taskbar" object Settings).  It would be displayed as Windows Explorer(2) with a submenu showing all the programs that match that criteria.

I have seen this in several different DX themes, so I assumed it was a StarDock Object.  The objects are also available when creating a new desktop object from scratch(just checked that).  If these are not stardock objects, then I apologize.

Thanks

I have not heard anything back on this. Is this object a stardock object? If so, is it possible to group the "program" objects in the style of the windows task bar? If not can we add it to a 'wishlist' or a to-do list

Is this functionality explicitly built in to DesktopX? No, although I wouldn't rule out the possibility of implementing such a feature (seeing how DesktopX is so customizable). You could try asking on irc (either connect to "chat" on SDCentral or use your favorite irc client and connect to irc.stardock.com).

You might also try asking some of the seasoned DesktopX developers in another thread under the "OS Customization" category on WinCustomize.com.

well, I have irc ports blocked where I am now. I will try IRC when I can get some time at home.

I went under support because I figured it was a StarDock object, and would be easier for support to modify an existing object than create a new one from scratch. Which is what I think someone in OS Customization would have to do(as these objects are not open source).

I will try the OS Customization group as well though, they may be able to offer something in addition.

Although we're able to contact developers regarding software issues, we try to reserve our contact with them to bugs in the software. Features and other requests can be submitted on the wishlist forums.

When you create an object in DesktopX, you have multiple templates to choose from. One such template is a taskbar; it gives you a few options to select to modify your object, but unfortunately not the features you requested. You should be able to find help in producing these features.

Our support teams are basically here to address bugs in programs and help where we can, but unfortunately cannot offer development support. Sorry I could not help you further.

I am a newbie to StarDock products, so I did not know the structure of the support teams, etc.. I am also not aware of the size of the development teams that are developing the Stardock product lines.

I am a developer as well, so I can appreciate the isolation from most end users (it is amazeing how many don't really know the core products they are talking about).

As I mentioned though my lack of access to the ActiveX code that is used in this object leaves me with few options.

I am also a stoic engineer type (functionality over fashion), but I think hey, if you can have functionality and fashion too, all the better . So there may be more post on different things in the time to come from me. Heck, with me being a developer and access to those type of tools, etc... I may even make it to a contributing member on the functionality side, but for now I am very inexperienced with the product itself.

Any pointers on how the community here works, or the 'best practices' of the forums as well are appreciated.

If I seemed a bit flustered with these previous posts, I apologize. I am truly frustrated with the lack of this functionality (especially since it is in RC (since that means the code is lying around at Stardock, just not implemented in DX)). I was not meaning to be brash with any of my previous posts on this though.

Thanks for the help so far and staying with me on this.

Update: I just thought a bit more deeply. I should not be as frustrated as I originally was due to the fact that there is a graphics element that would have to be different between RC and DX. This could be the cause of the difference in availability between the products. Please accept my apologies for not thinking things through as I should before I jumped.
